Never Overpay During a Sale

Retailers love to use confusing signs like "Take an additional 15% off the lowest marked price." Instead of guessing how much an item will cost at the register, use our discount calculator to find the exact final price before you buy.

See Your Exact Savings

Sometimes a percentage discount sounds great, but the actual dollar savings is minimal. Our tool clearly displays exactly how much money stays in your pocket so you can decide if the sale is actually worth it.

Worked Example

Using the calculator's default numbers — a $100 item with a 15% discount:

  • You Save = $100 × 15% = $15
  • Final Sale Price = $100 − $15 = $85

Frequently Asked Questions

Simply enter the original price of the item and the percentage discount being offered. The calculator will instantly show you the final price you will pay, as well as the exact dollar amount you are saving.
Yes! A 50% discount means you pay half the original price. A 25% discount means you pay 75% of the original price.
A quick trick for a 20% discount is to move the decimal point one place to the left (which gives you 10%), and then multiply that number by 2. Subtract that from the original price!
Stacked discounts apply one after another, not added together. A 20% discount followed by a separate 10% discount is NOT 30% off — it's 28% off, since the second discount applies to the already-reduced price. Calculate them one at a time: apply the first discount, then apply the second to that new price.
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount as a decimal). For example, if an item costs $85 after a 15% discount, the original price was $85 ÷ 0.85 = $100.
The calculator shows results to two decimal places for currency amounts, which matches standard cent rounding for US dollar prices.
No, this tool calculates the discount only, before any sales tax. To find your total including tax, use our Sales Tax Calculator on the discounted price.
