For example, someone born on June 20, 2001, calculated against today's date of July 30, 2026, would be 25 years, 1 month, and 10 days old — that's approximately 9,171 days, or roughly 220,100 hours, since birth. Small date differences like this are easy to miscount by hand, especially across leap years, which is exactly what this calculator handles automatically.

Age Systems Around the World

This calculator uses the Western age system, the standard used in the US, most of Europe, and the majority of the world: you start at age 0 at birth and gain a year on each birthday. It's worth knowing that not every country counts age the same way — South Korea, for instance, traditionally used a system where a baby is considered 1 year old at birth and everyone gains a year on New Year's Day rather than their individual birthday, which can put someone's traditional age one or two years ahead of their Western age. If you've seen a "Korean age" that doesn't match what this tool shows, that difference is why.
